BIOGRAPHYAbout the speaker
Alma Harašić Bremec is Head of the Culinary Academy at the Association of Chefs from Mediterranean and European Regions (ŠKMER), bringing more than 25 years of experience in hospitality, tourism and gastronomy. Born on the island of Brač, she trained at the Faculty of Hotel Management in Opatija, where she met chef Željko Neven Bremec — today one of Croatia's leading chefs and culinary educators — her life and business partner.
At the turn of the millennium the two began building a distinctive gastronomic story, opening prestigious establishments and signature kitchens across Dalmatia while Alma earned a Master's in Total Quality Management in Hospitality and led gourmet events, elite tourism programmes and a travel agency.
Since joining ŠKMER as Marketing Manager in 2010, she has helped grow Biser Mora into the largest culinary competition and festival in this part of Europe, drawing more than 500 chefs annually from around the world. Under her leadership, ŠKMER today partners with leading F&B companies in Croatia and runs a platform for education, conferences and international competitions including Biser Mora, Grand Gourmet and Dubrovnik Royal Gourmet.
Among her many activities at the Culinary Academy are training programmes for beginners and professionals, humanitarian initiatives, and cooking workshops teaching healthy eating habits to preschool and school-aged children. She is a lecturer and a member of the Croatian Association of Businesswomen "Krug", advocating for the advancement of women's status in both business and society.
